Matte Polished Concrete Floors

A polished concrete matte finish is achieved through grinding, honing, and polishing the concrete surface. Initially, coarse diamond abrasives are used to remove imperfections and level the surface. As the process progresses, finer grits are used, resulting in a smoother texture. To achieve a matte finish, the final polishing steps use finer grits, typically stopping at a grit level lower than what would be used for a high-gloss finish. 

Caring for matte polished concrete is relatively straightforward. Regularly sweeping to remove dirt and debris is essential to prevent surface abrasion. Periodic wet mopping with a pH-balanced cleaner keeps the floor clean and fresh. Additionally, it's important to avoid harsh chemicals, acids, and abrasive cleaning tools, as they can damage the matte finish. 

Matte polished concrete differs from a high gloss finish primarily in its level of reflectiveness. While both are achieved through the same grinding and polishing process, a high glossy finish requires the use of finer grit abrasives and often an additional polishing step. As a result, it has a shinier and more reflective surface. In contrast, matte polished concrete flooring stops at a lower grit level, producing a smooth, non-reflective, and subdued appearance.
