Grid back your floors to reveal what's beneath

There are many ways to achieve the aesthetic of polished concrete, without the price associated — and concrete grinding is one of them. By using premier grinders from the Swedish company Husqvarna, we can remove the top layer of an existing slab.

By the end of the process, you’ll be left with a polished concrete floor that is stain-resistant, durable, and easy to maintain. You can choose from a range of finishes, and we’ll seal the floor. Some sealants are chemical resistant, so it’s easier to clean away oils and grease.

Frequently asked questions

How does concrete grinding work?

  1. Our concrete flooring specialists will use Husqvarna grinders to remove any contaminants from your existing concrete slab.
  2. Any cracks and divots in the floor are patched with special patching materials.
  3. If required, we can grind the floor back again to make the floor even smoother.
  4. We’ll then clean the floor, and prepare it for the sealing stage. At this point, we can add a stain to the floor if desired.
  5. Then we’ll seal the floor with the finish of your choice.

There are a variety of sealants and finishes to choose from — including high gloss and semi-matte. Speak with our team to find out what’s available for your floors.

What's the difference between concrete grinding and polished concrete?

Aesthetically, both services produce the same outcome. But the processes to get a stunning concrete floor is different for each.

Polished concrete is more labour intensive, involving more steps. During concrete polishing, the existing slab is polished using finer grits of diamond abrasives until the floor reaches the level of shine desired.

Concrete grinding involves fewer steps. Often, we need only grind the floor once and apply a high performance sealer to get a similar appearance to polished concrete.

What industries does concrete grinding work best for?

Suited to both indoor and outdoor settings, concrete grinding is the best service for commercial industries such as:

  • Shopping centres
  • Cafes and restaurants
  • Hospitals and medical
  • Offices
  • Schools and universities
  • Retail outlets
  • Gyms
  • Warehouses
  • Hospitals
  • Workshops

Why should I choose concrete grinding for my floors?

Concrete grinding offers more flexibility at a more affordable price than traditional concrete polishing services. Because we can grind away fewer layers, and simply apply a sealant instead, it’s a great solution if you’re working within a tight budget. It also means you have more choices about how your floor will look.
